State Champs! Lexington Defeats Blythewood For 1st Title Since 1999

Wildcats win, 4-0.

Updated story: Josh Reagan pitched a masterful game and the Lexington took advantage of several costly Blythewood mistakes, and the Wildcats won their first AAAA state baseball title since 1999.

Lexington won Friday night's third and deciding game of the series, 4-0, at Carolina Stadium in front of an estimated 6,500 fans.

Original story: Lexington High's baseball team will take on the Blythewood Bengals Friday in the third and deciding game in the 4A state baseball championship series. 

The Wildcats and the Bengals will meet at 7 p.m. at Carolina Stadium.

Top-ranked Lexington beat third-ranked Blythewood 5-2 Monday in the opening game of the series. On Wednesday, the Bengals came back with a 7-2 win over Lexington, tying the best-of-three series 1-all. 

The Wildcats enter the the last game of the series with a 27-5 record, while the Benglas enter with a 27-6 record.
