You are so right Richard. I'ts a shame that she got knocked off the ballot because of some dumb complex election laws that took 200 candidates off of the ballots. Miriam Birdsong being one. Only in SC...

We need people in office who will work for stronger education and infrastructure for our growing city. BTW, the kids we are"educating" now will be the folks who will be making the laws, upholding our community standards and taking care of us.

Interesting Ken, you make some statements as fact, but there is no substantive citied proof of them. It's easy to throw words around but you do need to make statements base on citied facts in this case.

Dick, I agree total with your comments. Voting is a privileged bathed with the shed blood who made the ultimate sacriface that we can live in a free country. Unfortunately, the pulse of America is "why bother"... my vote does't count. It won't make a diffrence. In reality, it does. Many contests have been settle by only a few votes. One only has to look at the the ongoing protests on wall street and see how with a few it has spread world wide. People are fed up with the same old, same old. Our Constitution says, "We the people..." We, that's you and I collectively, have a God Given responsibility to get out and excercise our freedom to vote. Your vote counts period. If you don't vote then don't bitch about our government. the choice is yours. Be a participant in the future of our country. You have the power to make a difference it's called a vote. Do it!

I can relate to all you went through to bring you wife, Ana to America.
I was in Romania in the fall of 1991 after the fall of the dictatorship rule. I was there to help design and build a church in NW part of the country. The people didn't know what to do with their new found freedom. I also had an opportunity to make a short trip into Moldavia and can relate to what you must have gone through to bring Ana to America and be your wife.

An other example......we abandon our space program, give walking papers to thousands of highly skilled workers with years of invaluable experience plus sub contractors and hundred of material suppliers turning our space center towns into ghost towns. Thus increasing our unemployment numbers tremendously. Those in NASA and the government certainly lost sight of the dream that we held dear. So much could have continued. Further exploration of the moon for example. What did we do? Picked up a few rocks, hit a golf ball, danced a bit on the moon's surface, and planted an an American Flag on the moons surface. The spin off from our space program brought tremendous values to our everyday life which we all take for granted. Ihave lived through the entire life of space development. At one time I worked in helping design space suits and capsule exteriors. Met men who were willing to put there lives on the line to further the dream. Shame on those who pulled the plug an ended it all. Now we have given back to the Russians and pay them to launch our astronauts to the save station on rocket transports that are far behind what we had developed. Now we are looking at probes in 2015 to explore the moons of mars. Why could we not have further explore the moon while we developed other space probes?
