Poll: Haley Most Well-Known South Carolinian

60 percent say country headed in wrong direction, most not feeling stressed

The latest Winthrop University poll of South Carolinians showed doubts about the direction of the country and about which Palmetto Staters had the biggest national profile. The poll, released Wednesday, found that more people (11.8 percent) believed Gov. Nikki Haley to be the most nationally recognized South Carolinian, ahead of Sen. Jim DeMint (5.8 percent) and comedian Stephen Colbert (4.1 percent). Almost 43 percent of those surveyed said they could not think of anyone or didn't know which South Carolinian had the greatest national profile. Poll: S.C. Republicans Still Doubt Obama's Birthplace, Religion

Almost 75 percent say the President is "socialist"

Also, despite the release of a long-form birth certificate that showed President Obama was born in Hawaii, 36 percent of those polled believe that the President was probably or definitely born outside of the United …

Bachmann falling, Cain slowly rising

A new Winthrop University poll finds Texas Gov. Rick Perry holding a lead on former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney among South Carolina Republicans. But the gap is narrowing. The results, released Tuesday, show that of respondents who said that they definitely planned to vote in South Carolina's presidential primary, 30.5 percent favored Perry and 27.3 percent supported Romney. "The race right now is wide open," South Carolina GOP executive director Matt Moore said. "Republicans expect the candidates to come here and campaign hard and convince them." Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's popularity among those same Republicans is falling, according to the poll, while businessman Herman Cain is gaining some ground on the field. Eleven …

None of the Republicans that are running have no chance of winning the election. Rick Perry is a joke. The man is a self serving hypocrite with not a honest bone in his body. Romney can't win because of his past record. The rest of them are like clowns in a circus. South Carolina voters love these kind of idiots...just look at our Governor and the elected Republicans that are running things.   more ›
