Hearing Date Set in Haley Ethics Suit
House Ethics Committee later this month will hear case alleging Haley lobbied illegally.
The S.C. House Ethics Committee said Thursday it will hold a hearing June 28 on allegations that Gov. Nikki Haley lobbied illegally while a House member. The committee will decide what witnesses to subpoena at a meeting next Thursday. Haley also will be allowed to call witnesses at the hearing, according to a report by The State newspaper. It's unclear whether Haley will be subpoenaed, the paper said. The governor has been accused of lobbying illegally for Lexington Medical Center and Wilbur Smith Associates while she served in the House. Haley earned $110,000 annually as a fundraiser for the hospital, and earned $42,500 for her work as a consultant for Wilbur Smith. Haley has vigorously denied any illegality or ethics violations. “…
