Missing Toddler Prompts Facebook Appeal

Columbia woman utilizing social media in effort to keep the story of Amir Jennings' disappearance alive in people's minds.

A Columbia woman is putting the power of social media to work in hopes of finding Amir Jennings, a local toddler who has been missing since Thanksgiving. According to a report by WIS-TV, T'nae Parker has started a Facebook page, "Find Amir Jennings," to keep the story of Jennings' disappearance alive here in the Midlands. "I have a child and I know that if something happened to her I would move heaven and earth to get her back and I would want people to help me," Parker told WIS. The 18-month-old boy has ben missing since Nov. 24. Meanwhile, his troubled mother, Zinah Jennings, is in jail on child cruelty charges and has so far refused to cooperate with Columbia Police in their investigation of his disappearance. Police End Day's Search for Missing Toddler

Police conducted a search in a rural area of northwest Richland County.

Federal, local and state officers spent six hours searching a wooded area of northwest Richland County for toddler Amir Jennings who has been missing since Thanksgiving, according to multiple news reports.  The officers were searching an area near a church off of Brick Iron Road near Monticello Road based on a tip, but by 3 p.m. they had called off the search, according to a report in The State newspaper. Amir Jennings has been missing since November. His mother, Zinah Jennings, has been in jail on child cruelty charges since Christmas Eve.  Court records show that Zinah Jennings is now pregnant and has been declared "mentally ill," according to a report from WIS. Officers say the investigation into Amir Jennings' whereabouts will continue.

Grandmother of Missing Toddler Asks for Help

Police continue the search for 18-month-old Amir Jennings who has been missing since Thanksgiving.

Jocelyn Jennings Nelson hasn't seen her grandson since Thanksgiving. Now, she's asking for the community's help in bringing 18-month-old Amir Jennings home safely. "He loves nursery rhymes. He'll repeat back to you. He's a very bright child," Jennings said about her grandson at a press conference Friday.  "My family and I are requesting your support in finding his location and to bring him home."  Nelson said her grandson answers to the names "Mir-mir" and "AJ." Investigators believe the toddler could be in the Columbia, Atlanta or Charlotte areas. Nelson filed a missing persons report for her grandson and his mother, Zinah Jennings, on Dec. 8. Police Search for Missing Child, Charge Mother with Cruelty

Toddler has been missing since Thanksgiving.

The mother of a toddler who has been missing since Thanksgiving is facing child cruelty charges after Columbia police say she gave misleading information on the whereabouts of her son.  Zinah Demaris Jennings, is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on a $150,000 surety bond. Police are searching for 18-month-old Amir Jennings, who family members last saw with his mother during the Thanksgiving holiday.  Family members originally filed a missing persons report for Zinah Jennings and Amir Jennings when they couldn't locate or get in touch with the two, Columbia police said.  On Christmas Eve, Zinah Jennings was involved in a car accident on Millwood Avenue and Lady Street.
