Lexington to Host Dixie Youth World Series 2 Years in a Row

Lexington will host the 2014 and 2015 Dixie Youth World Series.

Lexington will host the Dixie Youth World Series two years in a row, town leaders announced Tuesday.

Lexington County leaders just secured Lexington as the host town for the 2015 Dixie Youth World Series. Last year, leaders secured Lexington as the host town for the 2014 Dixie Youth World Series.

Lexington will be the first community to host the series back-to-back in the 60-year history of Dixie Youth Baseball.

The games will be held at the Lexington Sports Complex on Ballpark Road. Each year, there will be three tournaments: one for 9- and 10-year-olds, one for 11- and 12-year-old and one for 13- and 14-year-olds.

The games are expected to draw as many as 6,000 people to the Lexington area each year and are expected to generate an economic boost in the community.

Lexington County leaders who traveled to Laurel, Miss. to secure Lexington as the host town include Mayor Randy Halfacre; Brian Dodge, Chairman of the Greater Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center; and leaders of the Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission and Lexington Dixie Baseball League.
