Lexington Falls to Irmo in 4A State Title on PKs

Irmo wins state title, 4-3.

Update: Lexington's boys soccer fell to Irmo in the 4A state title match, 4-3 in penalty kicks.

Neither team scored in regulation or four overtime periods.

But a Madison Gossett goal following an Irmo save gave the Yellow Jackets the title.

Orginal story: The Lexington Wildcats and the Irmo Yellow Jackets will compete for the 4A soccer state championship title Saturday. 

The two teams meet at 6 p.m. at Gilbert High School.

The Wildcats claimed the Lower State Championship Tuesday night when they defeated Dutch Fork 3-1. 

This is the first time the Lexington High boys soccer team has reached the finals of the state championship. 

On the other side of the bracket, Irmo took home the Upper State Championship Tuesday night when they defeated Nation Ford, also 3-1. 

The Yellow Jackets will play for their 16th state championship title.
