Lexington Boys Track Wins Second Overall in State Championships

Senior Curtis Wilson and junior Zack Langston both won first places.

The Lexington High School boys track team captured second place in Class 4A at the 2013 Track & Field State Championships held at Lower Richland High Saturday. They finished with 50 points, just behind Spring Valley. 

The Wildcats had strong performances as they captured first place in three races and second place in two others. 

Senior Curtis Walker led the Wildcats in victories with two first place wins: one in the 200 meter dash (21.56) and another in the 400 meter dash (47.75). Walker also finished 6th with teammates Keelo Norris, Garvin Jackson and Damon Davis in the 4x400 meter relay.

As Walker finishes his senior year, he will head to the University of South Carolina to run for the Gamecocks.

The other first place for the Wildcats came with junior Zack Langston's win in the 600 meter run (4:16.42). Langston also finished 8th in the 3200 meter run.

Junior Tony Morales also gave the Lexington High its two second places. He captured second place in the 3200 meter run (9:37.38). He also finished second in the 4x800 relay with teammates Langston, Erik Wendt and Thomas Harris (7:50.86).
