Lexington Boys Soccer Upends Top-Seed South Aiken

Wildcats win, 4-1 on penalty kicks, to face Dutch Fork in AAAA state semifinals on Tuesday.

It took a long time, but Lexington's boys soccer team advanced to the AAAA state semifinals with a 4-1 win Saturday night over top-seed South Aiken.

The Wildcats advance to the Lower State title game Tuesday night against Dutch Fork. Dutch Fork also won on Saturday.

Lexington and South Aiken, which defeated Lexington twice during the regular season, were tied 1-1 after regulation, overtime and sudden death. But the Wildcats sealed the deal in penalty kicks.

It's going to be a big week for the Wildcats.

Lexington's girls soccer team will play Wando for the Lower State title on Monday. Also on Monday, the Lexington baseball will begin a three-game series for the state baseball championship against Blythewood.
