Lexington Baseball Beats Blythewood in First Game of State Title Series

Monday's game is the first in a best-of-three series.

Update, 9:49 p.m.: The Lexington baseball team will play for the state championship title Wednesday, after beating Blythewood Monday in the first game of the state title series.

The Wildcats topped Blythewood 5-2, improving their record to 27-4.

The team has a chance to clinch its first state title since 1999 when it plays at Blythewood at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bengals fell to 26-6.

The Wildcats, 26-4 on the season, won the Lower State Championship Friday after defeating South Aiken 2-1.
