Lexington Falls, Will Face Blythewood Friday for State Title

Wildcats fell on the road Wednesday night to the Bengals, 7-2.

Update: Lexington High's baseball team fell 7-2 to Blythewood on Wednesday night to force a third and deciding game in the AAAA state baseball championship series.

The Wildcats and Bengals will face off Friday at Carolina Stadium at 7 for the state title.

After taking an early 2-1 lead over Blythewood, Lexington was unable to get anything going on offense and the Bengals bats came alive.

Original story: The Lexington baseball team has a chance to clinch its first state title since 1999 when it plays Blythewood Wednesday night in game two of the Class 4A State Championship title series.  

The Wildcats (27-4) will travel to Blythewood for a 7 p.m. game.

Lexington beat the Bengals 5-2 in the first game of the state title series Monday night.

The Wildcats beat out Beaufort and South Aiken to win the Lower State Championship, while the Bengals took home wins over Dorman and Wade Hampton for the Upper State Championship.
