White Knoll High Students Win Awards at Theatre Festival

Several students won individual awards for playwriting or acting.

White Knoll High thespian students traveled to Lander University to compete in the 2013 Palmetto Dramatic Association and S.C. Thespian High School Theatre Festival where they received multiple awards.

The group was awarded superior play production for “Stumped,” which was written and directed by White Knoll student Phylisha Mace, and “10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse.” They also received superior ratings in make-up design and ensemble acting.

The talented group included White Knoll students Caitlyn Alford, Brittany Branham, Jordan Bowen, David Brackett, Devon Catoe, Rene Claspill, Caroline Clarke, Kaitlyn Dillard, Nina Forsyth, Matt Hill, Kyle McGee, Shepherd Pinney, Jawan Pringle, Jennifer Rambo, Megan Schulke, Kayla Teets, Sam Walker, Brandon Williams, Wes Williams and Kaitlyn Yaworski.

Wes Williams and Kyle McGee were also recognized for their excellence in acting. Phylisha Mace’s play “Stumped” won second place in playwriting and her play “The Other Prince” won third place in playwriting.

White Knoll Drama Teacher Brandi Owensby was elected vice president of the Palmetto Dramatic Association.
