Local Students Honored for Academic Achievement at The Citadel

Six students from Lexington made the Dean's List, while five other were awarded Gold Stars.

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, has honored the following students for academic excellence during the fall semester of the 2012-2013 academic year.

Gold Stars are awarded to students that achieve a 3.7 grade point average or higher. Gold Star recipients will be recognized during a military dress parade on Jan. 25.

Dean's List recognition is given to those students registered for 12 or more semester hours whose grade point ratio is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester's work.

Gold Stars

Samuel Luther Gibbons IV (a cadet), of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in political science. 

Benjamin David Hall (a cadet), of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in physics.

William Taylor Humphrey (a cadet), of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in business administration.

Thomas Looney McGuire (a cadet), of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in English. 

Franklin Scott McGuire Jr. (a cadet), of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in English. 

Gold Stars are worn on the collar of the cadet full dress and dress uniforms and the summer leave uniform.

Dean's List

Khyle Song Grier (a cadet) of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in biology.

Nicholas Jobe Hammond (a cadet) of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in civil engineering.

Colt Browning Kirkpatrick (a cadet) of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in civil engineering. 

Kyle Carlton Oliver (a cadet) of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in history. 

Zachary Craig Perry (a cadet) of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in political science. 

Scott Edwin Graves (a cadet) of Lexington, SC, who is majoring in criminal justice.
