Five employees who retired from Lexington County School District One at the end of June received awards in recognition of their years of service to students and the community.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts presented the Sheriff's Award to Carolina Springs Elementary Principal Darrell Barringer, Pelion High School Resource Officer James Moore, Pelion High Principal Jean Haggard and White Knoll Middle Principal Nancy Turner.
The award is the highest honor the sheriff can bestow and recognizes their support of law enforcement during their time at Lexington One.
Lexington Middle Principal Laura McMahan received the Honorary Captain award from Lexington Police Department Chief Terrence Green.
The award honors McMahan and the impact she has had on students, parents and the community.
