Some South Carolina families are getting a Christmas gift a little early this year.
More than 800 South Carolina soldiers are expected to return home this weekend from Kuwait, according to the Associated Press.
The South Carolina Army National Guard says soldiers of the 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry will fly into Columbia between Saturday and Monday and will be bused to their armories for homecoming ceremonies.
The unit was mobilized in January and deployed to Kuwait in April after training at Camp Shelby, Miss.
The soldiers were commanded by Lt. Col. Frederick Pasley of Charleston.
