Two 17-year-olds were charged with third-degree burglary following a burglary at a home near Gilbert.

Lexington County deputies arrested two 17-year-olds in connection with a burglary at a home near Gilbert.

Dalton Wayne Heywood, of Leesville, and Travis James Trapp, 17, of Monetta, were charged with third-degree burglary, Sheriff James Metts said.

Deputies say the teens unlawfully entered a garage outside a Green Hills Drive home at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday and stole two toolboxes, a battery charger and an arc welder.

One of the toolboxes was found in the bed of a 2005 black Dodge Ram pickup truck that was parked outside the garage, according to a sheriff’s department release. The pickup truck is registered to one of Trapp's relatives.

Deputies responding to a burglary call at the home saw that a window had been shattered on a door that is used to access the garage, Metts said. Deputies caught the teens walking out of the garage’s entry door, carrying the second toolbox.
