Upate, 4:40 p.m.: Two peopled killed in a collision Saturday night have been identified by the Lexington County Coroner's Office.
The driver of a 1993 Lexus, identified by Coroner Harry Harman as 38-year-old Donald Wayne Burton of Batesburg-Leesville, ran a stop sign at the intersection of Fairview Road and Neely Wingard Road, and collided with a truck.
Burton was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the vehicle, Tyler Brown, 17, of Gilbert, was transported to Palmetto Health Richland, where he was pronounced dead, according to the coroner's office.
A third passenger in the vehicle was also transported to Palmetto Health Richland, where he was treated and released.
The driver of the truck was uninjured. The accident still remains under investigation.
Original, 8:55 a.m.: Two people are dead and a third is injured after a collision Saturday night in Lexington County.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 178 and Neely Wingard Road.
Troopers said the driver of a 1993 Lexus was headed west on Neely Wingard when the driver disregarded a stop sign at Highway 178 and the vehicle was struck by an oncoming truck.
The driver of the Lexus and a passenger died in the crash. A third passenger was taken to Palmetto Richland Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
