Lexington County Sheriff's Department fugitive investigators arrested a 66-year-old man Monday who they say failed to make court-ordered child support payments in Lexington County totaling more than $261,000.
Wayman Earl "Butch" Wilson was transported from Fayette County, Ala. to Lexington County. He is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
Wilson was wanted for more than 10 years, according to the sheriff's department. The total amount he owed is one of the largest child support arrearages fugitive investigators have every investigated in Lexington County.
Arrest warrants allege that since July 1, 2002, Wilson failed to make court-ordered child support payments totaling $261,313 in Lexington County, even though he was capable of earning a living.
Investigators determined that Wilson was living in Fayette, Ala., and contacted the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. Deputies there arrested Wilson and booked him at the Fayette County jail, where Lexington County deputies picked him up Monday.
