Metal Stolen From 2 Lexington County Homes

A man tried to sell the items to a metal recycling company, according to incident reports from the sheriff's department.

Deputies are investigating the theft of scrap metal, a three-wheeler and a go-kart from two houses in Lexington County.

The owner of a house on Boiling Springs Road told deputies that around 10 a.m. Monday, someone drove onto his property and stole two scrap refrigerators, one washer, a boat trailer and a metal I-beam, according to an incident report from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

Neighbors said they saw a silver, grey or black Chevrolet S-10 truck leaving the property, according to the report.

The owner of the house checked with CMC Recycling and was able to recover most of the stolen items, except the boat trailer, according to the report. Employees at the metal recycling center said a white male driving a silver-and-black truck sold them the items.

A deputy also responded to a home on Nazareth Road around 1 p.m. Monday in reference to stolen items. The owner of the home said someone stole a red Honda 110 three-wheeler and a small red go-kart with a roll cage, according to the report.

While the deputy was taking the report, the owner of the home on Boiling Springs Road stopped by and told the deputy that he had recovered some of his items from CMC Recycling.

When deputies called the recycling center, the manager said that the same white male returned a second time that day in the grey and black truck with a red three-wheeler and red go-kart, according to the report. CMC Recycling did not buy the items.

The manager identified the man, and told deputies that he is a regular customer, according to the report.

Deputies are investigating the incident, but have not made any arrests.
