Lexington National Night Out Planned for Tuesday

Community members and organizations will come together at Gibson Pond Park Tuesday for National Night Out.

Lexington residents will gather at Gibson Pond Park Tuesday to take a stand against crime. 

The Lexington Police Department is sponsoring a National Night Out cookout with hot dogs, snow cones, and educational material. Community Action Team members will do child passenger safety seat checks and offer information on the other services they provide. The event starts at 6 p.m.

Law enforcement and communities across the United States will participate in National Night Out events this week. The events are sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch to generate support for anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and send a message to criminals.

Last year, civic groups, businesses, neighborhoods and local officials from more than 15,000 communities participated in National Night Out.

  • Gaston and Sharpe's Hill Crime Watch will join together at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Collard Kitchen (186 Carlisle St.) for National Night Out.
  • is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. at Chapin United Methodist Church.
  • The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and the Batesburg-Leesville
    Police Department will conduct a National Night Out event between 6 and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7 at Leesville College Park, 423 College Street, Leesville.
