Lake Murray's first apartment complex is starting discussion about the possibility of similar developments popping up around the lake, according to a report in The State.
The Residence at Marina Bay, a 216-unit luxury apartment complex, will be ready for residents in October, according to the report. The apartments, which include an on-site restaurant, a convenience store and pool-side service, are going up at the former Lake Murray Marina in Ballentine.
But developers say it may be difficult to find suitable space for similar projects, according to The State.
“It can only happen in a handful of places,” Lexington County planning director Charlie Compton told The State. “You may see it.”
Possible locations for apartments include two other marinas: Lighthouse in Ballentine and Jakes Landing near Lexington, according to the report. But owners of those marinas say they don't have plans for apartments.
