Report: Amazon To Move In By Sept. 30

Company to hire thousands by the end of the year

The long-awaited opening of Amazon's million-square-foot distribution center in Cayce is getting closer, The State reports.

At a Lexington procurement fair on Monday in which local vendors got a chance to pitch their products and services to the online retailing giant, company officials said they planned to move in by Sept. 30, the paper says.

Additionally, the company says it expects to hire up to 2,000 full-time and temporary workers. Pay will average around $15 an hour. The company has received more than 9,000 applications so far, but is still accepting applications.
