Sheriff's Department calling for county residents to open their hearts to the less fortunate this week

With the kickoff of the holiday season set to begin in mere days, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department is asking county residents to help make the holidays a little brighter for those in need.

LCSD deputies, in partnership with Wal-Mart, will accept donations of new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items for the department's annual holiday food and toy drive between 10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24 and 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1780 South Lake Drive near Lexington.

All of the food and toys that are donated will be provided to children and adults who need assistance, the department said.
