Area Churches Open Doors for National Back to Church Sunday

National Back to Church Sunday is an effort to bring the "unchurched" to churches across the nation.

Churches in the Lexington area and across the nation are trying to fill the pews this Sunday.

It's National Back to Church Sunday, an effort to get people who don't usually come to church to walk through the doors.

"The idea is to kick off the fall season by trying to get people to come back to church," said Russell Thompson, lead pastor at RightConnection Church, one of the Lexington churches participating in the effort.

"We sent out invitations and asked our people to bring someone with them," Thompson said.

As part of the national advertising for the campaign, churches and individuals have circulated a "Pastor Rap" video featuring singing pastors from several denominations inviting people back to church. (See the attached video.)
