350 Pounds of Food Donated to Harvest Hope

Donations of food and toys still encouraged by LCSD

Lexington County Sheriff James Metts and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies will provide about 350 pounds of non-perishable food items to Harvest Hope Food Bank at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, the sheriff said.

The food was donated to the Sheriff’s Department as part of the agency’s annual holiday food and toy drive.

Metts and deputies will provide the 350 pounds of non-perishable food items to Harvest Hope Food Bank during a Share Your Holiday public-awareness event that will be conducted at Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union, 919 North Lake Drive, Lexington.

Metts encourages citizens to continue to donate non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toys for the annual Sheriff’s Department holiday food and toy drive. Citizens who would like additional information about how to make donations for the food and toy drive can contact Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Kevin Blackmon at his office at (803) 785-2430.

Food and toys that are donated to the Sheriff’s Department during the agency’s annual holiday food and toy drive will be provided to Harvest Hope Food Bank and The Salvation Army, which will distribute the food and toys to persons who are in need of assistance, Metts said.
