Sheriff's Department Holding Blood Drive Wednesday

The blood drive will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department will hold a blood drive for the American Red Cross between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday at the James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex on Gibson Road.

“The American Red Cross is in need of your help," said Sheriff James R. Metts. "The Red Cross is experiencing a critical blood shortage across the country. Patients are depending on you to roll up your sleeves and make an appointment to give blood.”

To schedule an appointment to donate blood, contact Beth Harmon with the sheriff’s department at 803-785-2593.

The sheriff’s department regularly conducts blood drives in cooperation with the
American Red Cross, Metts said. Since 2006, blood drives hosted by the sheriff’s department have resulted in the donation of more than 1,000 units of blood to the American Red Cross.
