Report: Lexington Young Professionals Founder Charged with DUI

Lee Pitcovich, who also won the chamber's 'Young Professional of the Year,' was arrested last week.

Lee Pitcovich, a Lexington businessman who was voted "Young Professional of the Year" by the Lexington Chamber in February, is charged with driving under the influence.

Pitcovich's blood alcohol level when he was arrested on March 14 was about three times the legal limit, according to an incident report obtained by Patch.

A Lexington police officer pulled Pitcovich over on East Main Street around midnight for driving 47 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to the inicident report. The officer also saw Pitcovich brake too late for a red light and stop in the middle of the intersection at East Main and Harmon streets, according to the report.

Pitcovich pulled into the rear parking lot at the Old Mill and almost drove into the pond, according to the report. He stopped just 18 inches away from the water.

Pitcovich told the officer he was leaving an event at Keg Cowboy, where he had a beer to drink, and was heading home, according to the report.

Pitcovich failed several field sobriety tests, according to the report, and later blew a .23 blood alcohol content level at the county jail. 

He was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center, but released the same day on a $2,267 surety bond, according to Lexington County Judicial records.

Pitcovich, who also started the Lexington Young Professionals networking group, beat eight other nominees for the chamber's "Young Professional of the Year" award.

He owns Event Management, LLC, which has organized events in Lexington such as this past August. 

The 33-year-old businessman is also the chair of the Lexington YMCA board and a board member for Leadership Lexington, according to his Twitter bio
