Police Search for Person Who Crashed After Chase

A chase started in Lexington Wednesday and ended near Farrow Road in Columbia.

Lexington and Columbia police are looking for a person who crashed a stolen car after a chase that started in Lexington Wednesday afternoon.

The driver failed to stop when a Lexington Police officer tried to pull him over for a routine traffic stop on U.S. 378 around lunchtime Wednesday, said Matt Davis with the Lexington Police Department.

The officer chased the driver on U.S. 378 toward Columbia, where the driver side-swiped another vehicle, Davis said. The collision wasn't serious.

The chase continued until the driver crashed near Farrow Road in Columbia, Davis said. The person jumped out of the vehicle and ran.

The tag number on the vehicle came back as stolen, Davis said.

Police are searching for the suspect.
