Pelion Man Dead From Wreck Injuries

Juan Vasquez-Perez, 25, of Pelion, has died Tuesday from injuries he sustained in a single-car accident over the weekend, Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman said today.

The accident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, at the intersection of James Dunbar Road and Calks Ferry Road in Pelion, SC.

According to Harman, Vasquez-Perez, was driving a 1995 Pontiac eastbound on James Dunbar Road when he went off the right side of the road, overcorrected and went off the left side of the roadway, overturning and striking a utility pole.

Vasquez-Perez was transported to Palmetto Health Richland where he died Tuesday.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
