Old Mill Brewpub Opening in February

The restaurant and bar is opening in the former Cotton Grill location.

A restaurant and bar where beer is brewed on site is coming to the Old Mill in Lexington.

Old Mill Brewpub will open in the former Cotton Grill location in February, said owners John and Kelly Clinger.

The brewing equipment may not come in until a few months later, they said, but until then they'll be serving up more than 20 regional beers, such as New South and Highland, on draft. The bigger brands, like Budweiser, will be available in bottles.

The restaurant part of the business will also be in full operation in February and will feature a full menu, including appetizers, soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches.

"It's an ecclectic menu of many things people have never tried," John Clinger said. "We want to try to bring people something they haven't tried."

One of those creative dishes the Clingers are bringing to the restaurant is oven-baked pretzels topped with home-made crab dip.

Apart from the indoor restaurant and bar areas and the outdoor patio area, the space also has a banquet room that seats up to 40 people and will be rented out for meetings and parties.

John Clinger said he has been in the restaurant business since he was 14 years old. He has worked as the director of operations for Carolina Wings and has opened several other restaurants. He and his wife Kelly have lived in Lexington for seven years.

Cotton Grill gift cards will be honored at the new Old Mill Brewpub.
