Gilbert Man Dies While Helping Motorist Remove Deer From Road
Lexington County Coroner investigating accident that happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Highway 378 in Lexington.
A 17-year-old Gilbert man was killed after he was struck by a car while helping a motorist remove a deer from the road.
Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman identified the man as William Patrick Corley.
Investigators say Corley parked his vehicle on the side of Highway 378 in Lexington to help a driver who had hit a deer remove it from the roadway.
While assisting the individual, Corley was struck by a 2006 Toyota Camry heading eastbound.
Corley was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head and body trauma.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

My plea to all South Carolinians, DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR EVER, UNLESS ITS AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING YOURSELF, TO HELP ANYONE. THE REASON BEING, COLUMBIA DRIVERS ARE NON-DRIVERS AND WILL AND I REPEAT WILL RUN YOU OVER LOOKING RIGHT AT YOU. GOSH! IT PERTURBS ME THE WAY COLUMBIA DRIVERS OPERATE THEIR VEHICLES!

I'm sure the accident was not intentual; however, was the 20 year old going a little fast, and lost control?????? I'm sure it WAS NOT intentional. But, could she have been distracted? Prayers for all of you.

It sounds as if it was an accident however when you see a car stopped in the roadway or on the side of the road if you can not get over (due to traffic or narrow roadway) you are suppose to slow down to a crawl. At this time; pointing fingers isn't going to bring this young man back. God's Peace to all.
