Election 2012: Who Are Your Neighbors Voting For?

Find out by searching our interactive campaign contribution database.

Picking a candidate to support is a hugely personal and private decision for most.

But not if you've contributed to a presidential campaign.

To get a glimpse into your neighbors' plans come election day, Patch has created an interactive database so you can see how much your neighbors are donating to the presidential campaign — and to which candidate they’re writing their checks.

We’ve included communities across South Carolina, so if you want to see what the campaign contributions in nearby towns are like, go right ahead.

Note: The information in the database was downloaded from the Federal Election Commission’s website. The data is based on quarterly reports, and is current through October.

This doesn't work...cause I have contributed to Mitt Romney's campaign.

I contributed generously to Obama's campaign in September and it does not show up. Plus, why the weird spellings for Columbia??

The information from the FEC sometimes comes a little garbled. That is why there are a couple of city entries for Columbia, Greenville and Charleston.

Johnelle, the only entries for Romney in the Federal Elections Commission database under Raines in SC are two $53 contributions from May: http://www.fec.gov/disclosurep/pnational.do?cf=phome

Updating files now to combine many of the Lexington, Columbia and Greenville addresses. Thanks for pointing those out, Fugitive.

Also, my wife says she heard that people are putting empty chairs in their yard to indicate that they're voting for Mitt Romney in reference to the Clint Eastwood gaffe. What is wrong with these people?

That I have the opportunity to call out their stupid behavior proves that this is still a free country.

After thinking about it came up with a hypothesis; they are attempting to take ownership of something negative from their past. Like how some oppressed groups use slurs among themselves. Which is hilarious on several levels.

I can't imagine what's wrong with those people, but something surely is. But I differ from your designation as a "gaffe". I think any performer who can use one lonely prop (the empty chair) and hold people's attention, and make a point, has done a GREAT job. As political theater I tip my hat. I still would not vote for that lying cretin who depends upon distortion of the facts to make his case. Jeep jobs to Italy or China? GM jobs to China? Lies, disproved by the corporations involved. If Romney had anything to offer, he would present it honestly, not try to mislead voters to get their support. Lower taxes for the wealthiest has nothing to do with jobs in the USA, because their money goes to their Bermuda, Swiss, and Cayman Island accounts. These foreign countries get the benefit from tax breaks for the wealthy; the money does not create American jobs. Deficit spending on actual domestic programs, such as infrastructure and new development, will stimulate employment far more than another tax reduction.

I watched again to make sure I was remembering it correctly. As a fan of Clint Eastwood as an actor if anything it was even more painful to watch today.

Vote democrat tomorrow. It's important, even in SC. Think if you want a voucher system, tied to insurance companies, for Medicare for your kids. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Not to mention women's rights and all the other Neanderthal ideas coming from Repub's, including SC. Vote Democrat and tell them you're not fooled.

voting for DEMs in SC is like voting for GOPs in CA...a waste of time

ever wonder why 'No Democrat has won the white vote since 1964, the year President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law.'

A VOTE FOR OBAMA IS A VOTE AGAINST GOD: Billy Graham said "I will do whatever I can to help the GOP”. It was good to see Billy Graham take a stand against the forces of evil that are running our country. May God bless Billy Graham and may God give him a long, long life. We sure could use more like him!
When it comes to morals Obama is about as low as you can get! When he was in the Illinois State Senate, he voted to deny basic constitutional protections to babies born alive from failed abortions. Not once, but four times. Is this the kind of leadership that will move us forward? Leadership that would discard the least and the weakest among us?
Obama came out for same sex marriages, homosexuals in the military and had a homosexual sodomite party in the white house. He is forcing our military chaplains to perform same sex marriages. He is turning our country into Sodom and Gomorrah! God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah therefore a vote for Obama is a vote against God.
Christ used the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah as dramatic examples of God’s wrath (Matthew 10:15, Mark 6:11, Luke 10:12, and Luke 17:29). Throughout the Old Testament, prophets described these cities as being notorious for the practice of homosexuality. (Genesis 18:20, Genesis 19:4-5, Isaiah 3:9, Jeremiah 23:14, Ezekiel 16:46.

This is ludicrous! Obama's morals and ethics are just as strong as Romney! He is a solid Christian!

Obama talks about our responsibilities to be our brother's keeper, and sister's keeper, and our obligation to stand as a community. Romney talks about making sure those who have made their fortune are allowed to keep it. Who is the moral believer, and who is the "talk not actions" pharisee?

In the story of the destruction of Sodom it's important to note that Lot's first recourse when the mob approached asking him to turn over the angels/messengers of God/whatever your particular version of the OT calls them, was instead to offer up his daughters to the mob to do with as they pleased. Perhaps it's past time we stopped looking to a Bronze Age text for advice on how to structure a modern society in which all persons are supposed to be afforded the same rights, and in which women are no longer considered property, but actual people.
I really don't understand why so many people are so hung up on who someone else is attracted to. If you are against gay marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex. See it totally doesn't affect you at all. Bill I am not aware of any credible reporting on military chaplains actually being forced to perform same sex marriage ceremonies since the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, can you provide a link to a story about an actual case of it happening?

re: 'Throughout the Old Testament...'

'A new commandment I [Jesus] give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you...

'This commandment appears thirteen times in twelve verses in the New Testament. [...] The commandment can also be seen as the last wish in the Farewell Discourse to the disciples.'

so who you gonna believe...the OT or the NT

Jonathan Allen,
you have pointed out something that is disturbing about the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. It gives us another reason to believe in the concept of the first amendment. The concept is that one person's view of religion is not a good basis for our laws. Many religions have had ideas and practices which are not acceptable. People may freely choose to follow those practices, but they should never be given the status of legal standards. Why did we ever give religious clergy the right to pronounce civil unions? If Obama wins this election, maybe no future presidential candidate will come out against civil rights for ALL people, regardless of whom they love and wish to marry. If Romney wins, we are a little closer to a theocracy, like the Arab/Muslim Middle East countries, and the first amendment takes a back seat.

Wow do I feel like I'm living in the dark ages. How narrow minded can you be? Who are you to judge another human being? People who are always spouting scripture seem to be the biggest hypocrites. Alright how about "John 8:7". But we should be talking politics and not religion; who would be better to run the country. I'm voting for a president not the next pope/religious leader.

Billy Graham also said Mormonism is a cult. Changing your religious views for political gain is a hallmark of a fascist. Hooray GOP!

re: Romney paid zero in taxes [mr iv]

well not sure about the O taxes paid...but link was educational, thanks...eg;

due to dumb-A tax laws (see link), romney (and the 1%) get charitable deductions...but in the long term, quote:

“what’s going to go to charity is probably close to nothing,”…

to the Q/A:

in the 1%-er neighborhood MIT gets the vote (except for buffet, gates, soros)...if neighbors are middle class/po folks’ BO gets the vote...

weel...

there are many 99%-ers who, beyond comprehension, vote against their interest. vote for the failed (1929/2008), trickle UP, policies where the ‘1% get richer and 99% get poorer’...see chart showing the divide trend since the days of RR.

Vote against equal pay for women; vote for gov control over women’s bodies; vote against adequate funding for support programs for the children w/ disabilities; vote for tax cuts for the rich (who don’t need them)...etc.

MITT is clueless re how those who make it from pay chk to pay chk survive...and not because he's rich...he just doesn't get it in the way FDR, JFK, LBJ, slick willie (most DEM presidents incl BO) did/do...

an oft repeated anecdote re FDR:

people lined the tracks to pay respects when the train bearing FDR's body was returning to DC from warm springs. a man was weeping and person next to him asked if he knew FDR.

the man replied; 'no but he knew me.'

MITT has to fake it...he doesn't know me.
