Chamber Needs Volunteers to Staff New Visitors Center
The Visitors Center will be inside the chamber's new building on West Main Street.
The Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to staff its Visitors Center after the new chamber building on West Main Street opens.
Friendly, courteous people who are familiar with the Lexington area are ideal.
The Visitors Center will begin Saturday hours, tentatively from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in early 2013. Saturday hours may start earlier if there is a good response.
The center will be inside the new 7,000 square-foot chamber building, which is expected to open before the end of the year. It will include a gift shop with Lexington memorabilia, such as post cards and t-shirts, for sale.
The chamber will also need volunteers during the week. The chamber's weekday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For more information, contact Aïda Rogers at 359-6113 or aida@lexingtonsc.org.
Construction of the new building is on schedule, according to a post on the chamber's blog. Contractors have started to lay brick, and work on the landscaping will start soon.

I would be delighted to be considered as a volunteer. I have lived in Lexington area since 1983 so I am familiar with the area. I am a retired English and French teacher--I taught at Pelion, Lexington, and Gilbert High Schools, and I also taught English as A Second Language (ESOL) at Lake Murray Elementary. Kaaren Niver
